"I met my wife at a Star Trek convention. She was study abroad from France and spoke little English, and I didn’t know a lick of French. So, for the first few months of our relationship, we communicated by speaking Klingon."

Portrait of Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson (1990?-2014)oil on wood, 36x48”, tyler d graffamThis is one portrait in the series entitled I Promise I Will Not Forget You, depicting queer people who have died due to hate crimes against them. During the process of this series, another tragedy struck when Crystal Jackson and Britney Cosby were murdered in early March. The evidence is pointing to Britney Cosby’s father, killing the couple because they were gay. Please reblog this to spread awareness of the ongoing tragedies that happen far too often to queer people. The rest of the series will be posted soon. Thank you and stay safe.  b a d c

Statue Of A Homeless Jesus Startles A Wealthy Community
Rev. David Buck sits next to the Jesus the Homeless statue that was installed in front of his church, St. Alban’s Episcopal, in Davidscon, N.C.
A new religious statue in the town of Davidson, N.C., is unlike anything you might see in church.
The statue depicts Jesus as a vagrant sleeping on a park bench. St. Alban’s Episcopal Church installed the homeless Jesus statue on its property in the middle of an upscale neighborhood filled with well-kept townhomes.
Jesus is huddled under a blanket with his face and hands obscured; only the crucifixion wounds on his uncovered feet give him away.
The reaction was immediate. Some loved it; some didn’t.
"One woman from the neighborhood actually called police the first time she drove by," says David Boraks, editor of DavidsonNews.net. "She thought it was an actual homeless person."

One of my favorite GIFs of one of my favorite NASA visualizations to preview Monday’s It’s Okay To Be Smart and get you excited and all that jazz. Think you can guess what tomorrow’s vid is about?

Blue = sea saltGreen = organicsRed = dustWhite = sulfates

Check out the full NASA video below, featuring simulated global “stuff in the air” over a two year period on Earth. Ain’t Earth beautiful? (Even if, as in this case, it’s a 3 million processor-hour computer animation)
